Two suspected kidnappers of a two year-old boy in Lagos have been paraded by the police in Festac Command, Lagos.
The suspects, Onome King from Cote d’Ivoire, and Akojenu James, 33 aka Otunba, abducted Daniel Ebere, a two year-old boy from his father’s house in Okota, Lagos.
The Tide gathered that the plot was hatched by Onome King, who is Daniel’s father’s friend. Onome reportedly went to his friend’s house in Okota and picked Daniel on the pretext that he was going to buy him something.
The case was later reported at Festac Police Station. The kidnappers, it was learnt, demanded N10 million from Daniel’s father, who pretended to be playing along with them on the advice of the police.
It was learnt that the suspects became enthusiastic when Daniel’s father offered them $8,000 and they agreed to release his son.
At the agreed spot, the money was handed by the police to Daniel’s father and on receipt of the money, the suspects sped off in their car but they were hit from the back by plain cloths detectives on their trail.
As the kidnappers came out of their car to accost their attackers, they were swiftly arrested.
The suspect were later taken to Festac Police Station by the Police Detectives led by Woman Sergeant Evelyn Ubah and were later interrogated.
Parading the suspects at the weekend at the Area ‘F’ Command, Ikeja, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Frank Mba advised parents to protect their children, adding that the two suspects will soon be charged to court.
