PH Golf Gets New Management
A new management committee has been constituted for the Golf Section of Port Harcourt Club 1928, with the former Vice Captain of the section, Mr. Uzo Fidel Ezeuzonaka as Captain.
Others are Eddy Unuekhai – Vice Captain, Iwarimie Diri – General Secrtary, Anino Akperi – Treasurer, Franklin Wali – Membership Secretary, Opunabo Inko-Tariah – Competition Secretary and Okey Ananaba as Handicap Secretary.
Also elected were the Bar and Social Secretary – Ordinance Emeji, House Member – Diepreye Fiberesima, Grounds Member – Phino Amara and Caddy member – Hassan Adeyemo.
In his post-election speech, the Captain, Eze-Uzonaka thanked members for the confidence reposed on them and assured that he would bring his wealth of experience to bear as a former Vice Captain to give the section a new lease of life.
The 13 handicapper lamented that most of the foreign industrialists left Port Harcourt during the crisis period in the state, adding that it is the promotion of golf tournament that would restore people’s belief in the state as being safe.
He however called on the Rivers State Government to partner with the club in order to bring back most foreign golfers to the state which would also improve business partnership.
The captain promised to organise Governor’s Golf Tourney early next year as well as charity kitty to thank God for keeping them for the new year for better golfing activities.
According to him, the proceeds from the kitty would be given to the less privileged in the society.
Ezeuzonaka however called on all members to close ranks no matter the camp, to cooperate and move the section forward, stressing that the new administration would operate an open door policy.
In his remarks, the Secretary General of the section, Iwarimie Diri assured that the entire Exco is willing and ready to work with the Captain to achieve maximum result and move the section to the next level.
