Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole says stakeholders in the Nigeria project have a duty to put Nigeria first and mobilise the people for the task of nation building and national development.

Comrade oshiomhole said this while declaring open a three day orientation programme for youths in the Niger-Delta organised by the Nigeria Labour Congress at the Precious Palm Royal Hotel in Benin City.

The Governor remarked that Nigeria can be reconstructed to guarantee enough for everybody without some section oppressing or disempowering the others.

He argued that amnesty and disarmament are not ends in themselves, even as he said that they provide auspicious context needed for a consensual resolution of the Niger Delta crisis.

Comrade Oshiomhole said while the nation works towards the rehabilitation of the militants and their re-integration into productive civil life, stakeholders should re-strategise towards evolving a holistic solution.

The Governor recalled that several rallies were organised around the agenda of resource control, explaining that labour made a passionate case for massive injection of federal funds to redress the severe infrastructural and human development deficits, especially poverty and unemployment.

Comrade Oshiomhole posited that if the nation had taken this required constitutional and other measures, the nation would have been spared the cycle of violence and restiveness.

Also speaking, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Abdul Waheed Omar said the orientation programme was specifically desined for stakeholders to brainstorm and articulate a well informed, coherent, realistic, community-friendly and an implementable plan for the Niger-Delta region.
