Orji Urges Politicians To Lead By Example
Governor Theodore Orji of Abia state has challenged politicians in the country to raid themselves of negative practices which have, “characterizing of the profession as dirty game.
At a meeting with Progressive Peoples Alliance [PPA] State Working Committee in Umuahia Tuesday, Orji argued that the dirtiness often associated with politics would be removed if politicians who play the game purged themselves of all underhand dealings.
The governor expressed sadness that of all the professions politics is the only one regarded as dirty.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to PPA, noting that he has encountered challenges in his quest to make the party forward. The governor warned that he would fight against those plotting to frustrate him.
The governor asserted that government does not depend on gossip but on the dexterity of state executive council and advise people to verify their facts.
He urged PPA members to remain steadfast and assured them of his faith in the party.
According to him, “the PPA-Ied government in the state has done well considering the resources at its disposal.” He added that those castigating his administration for non performance were not realistic.
Orij also lauded the state House of Assembly for passing a vote of confidence on him in spite of the campaign of calumny against him by his detractors.
Earlier in his speech, the State chairman of the party, Ezeogo Emeka Onuoha enjoined the governor not to be distracted by rumour mongers who were out to discredit his government and assured him of the support of PPA members as well as that of the former governor, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu.
