Onuh Slams Troubled Premier League

Interim Home-based Super Eagles coach, Erasmus Onuh recently wrote off the quality of the Nigerian Premier League, saying the country is in trouble.

Onuh was in Kaduna to watch the derby between Ranchers Bees and Kaduna United, and said in a half time interview with SuperSport that there was nothing to see.

“I haven’t seen anything here. If this is our Premier League, then we are in trouble,” Onuh said.

Onuh, who took over from Okey Emordi and has managed the home Eagles to two losses against the Under 17 and Under 20 teams, also questioned the fitness of at least one of the teams.

“For Ranchers Bees, if you look at their fitness, it is very poor. If that is how the fitness of the Premier League is, then they need to do more. Their level of fitness, especially from the front runners is just not there. Kaduna United are fitter and freer but they are not even doing enough.”

Onuh’s comments are further indictment of the domestic league, coming soon after Super Eagles coach Shuaibu Amodu said local players would not break into his African Nations Cup.
