Onovo To Commission 40 Police Patrol Vans
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Ogbonna Onovo, is expected in Abia State to commission the 40 new Hilux patrol vans acquired by the state government for the state Police Command as well as projects executed by the State Police Commissioner, Mr Jonathan Johnson.
The vehicles according the state governor, Chief Theodore Orji were acquired to assist the Police fight off crime in the state, particularly, this yuletide. It would be recalled that the state government had donated four Hilux patrol vans to the Abia Police Command few days after Johnson had assumed office as Police Commissioner in the state. The government assured him that they were ready to partner and assist the Police to rid the state of crime and criminals.
The handing over ceremony of the vehicles will be performed by the Abia Chief Executive at Government House, Umuahia where top government functionaries and the Police top brass will be in attendance.
While in the state, the IGP is also expected to commission some projects embarked by Johnson which includes the renovation of the Command’s headquarters on Bende Road in Umuahia.
The Tide gathered that the state government is organising a befitting reception in honour of the visiting IGP as a mark of appreciation of the ability of the Police to reduce crime, especially kidnapping in the state, particularly since the arrival of Jonathan as the new Abia Police Boss.
