No Easy Road For Bafana Bafana – Parreira
Carlos Alberto Parreira has called for intense preparation if Bafana Bafana are to conquer their “Mount Everest” in what he calls South Africa’s moment of reality.
Drawn alongside South Africa in Group A are Mexico, Uruguay and France.
Speaking on Saturday at a press conference at Cape Town’s Cullinan hotel, Parreira said while Bafana are “not scared” of their opponents the reality is that “words will not get us anywhere now”.
“The time for speaking is over, we have to prepare very well now. We need to be mentally fit, we need to be smart, passionate and ready to work extremely hard on the field,” the Brazilian said. “The Confederations Cup was good preparation. We played against top teams like Spain and Brazil. We were committed and did well so this is a start”.
“We are in no doubt of the big challenge ahead of us though. We want the players to be very well prepared so they can go out there and enjoy themselves on the field. They will know their responsibilities, but they must enjoy the football too.”
