Nigerian Army Promotes Senior Military Officers

The Nigerian Army has announced the promotion of officers in the cadre of General. The release indicates that eight officers were elevated to the rank of Major General, while 49 others were moved to the rank of Brigadier General.

The exercise which is the last for the year 2009, is in conformity with the outcome of the decision of the Army Council which ratifies these promotions after the success of the beneficiaries at the various Promotion Boards.

The beneficiaries of the promotion to the rank of Major General include, the Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General YD Pyeng, the Director of Military Intelligence, Brigadier General AT Umaru, the Commander, Nigerian Army Infantry Corps, Brigadier Genera AB Maitama and the Commandant Nigerian Army Peace Keeping Centre, Brigadier General Emeka Onwuamaegbu. Furthermore, senior officers promoted to the rank of Brigadier General include; Colonels JA Adejoh, AIG Danpome, BI Agbab, AC Ebenebe, SA Songonuga, A Dadan-Garba, PAT Akem, OT Ethan, MA Obio and YM Bawa among others.

The senior officers are expected to be decorated with their new badges of rank soon. It could be recalled that the Nigerian Army had earlier released the promotion of officers in various ranks ranging from Captain up to Colonels as well as a numbers of soldiers.
