NASS To Pass 2010 Budget In Janaury
As anxiety mounts over the true state of health of President Umar Musa Yar’Adua, a member of the National Assembly representing Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency, Hon. Chris Berewari has said that the continuous absence of the president will not stall the implementation of the 2010 budget.
Hon Berewari who said this in an interview with newsmen last weekend at Nkoro Local Government Area also restated the resolved of the National Assembly to pass the 2010 budget in the second week of January 2010.
The lawmaker said that President Yar’Adua is just one among the various functionaries of government and stressed the resolution by both chambers of the National Assembly to pass the 2010 Budget early in January, is to allow for more time in its implementation.
“The Assembly is not happy with the level of performance of the 2009 budget, but there are also reasons why capital projects are not implemented to the fullest.
“The works sector for example, contracts are not awarded on time, what we have done now is to extend the implementation period beyond what it used to be before, to the third quarter of the following year” he said.
Hon Berewari who was among dignitaries at the Nkoro National Day of Thanksgiving service, said that the occasion was meant to attract God’s blessing to the kingdom.
