Mega Party: Atiku Gives Reason For Integration

Former Vice President and National Leader of Action Congress (AC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has assured Nigerians that a strong opposition party that would contest vigorously with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would soon emerge.

Fielding questions from reporters shortly on arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport during which he also debunked speculations over the choice of presidential candidates for the party, Alhaji Abubakar said the needed integration of existing parties would be finalised in January.

He assured that the integration of the mega party and the MDM into one formidable party would have been concluded in January and told Nigerians to expect a viable opposition party next year.

“This is our objective.  So, all Nigerians should definite await the announcement of another viable opposition party by early next year”, he said.

The former vice presidential debunked speculations that presidential candidates for the proposed major opposition party had been picked.

“The party has not even been formed yet, so why are you putting the cat before the horse?  There is nobody that is being touted as a prospective presidential aspirant or candidate of this new party.  Absolutely not yet”.
