Etche LG Acquires 200 Varsity Forms For Youths

The chairman of Etche Local Government Council in Rivers State, Chief Ephraim Nwuzi has purchased 200 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) scratch cards for indigenes of the area.

Speaking during the presentation of the forms to the deserving youths, Chief Nwuzi said that the measure was a bold step taken by the administration to encourage massive acquisition of tertiary education in the area.

Chief Nwuzi, who spoke through the secretary of the council, Hon. Silver Amadi challenged youths of Etche to be hardworking and serious with their studies as to achieve success in their endeavours.

To this end, he urged the beneficiaries to utilise the opportunities offered by the scheme to better their lives by making judicious use of the programme.

The council boss assured the people of the determination and commitment of the present administration at the state and local government to improve the living standards of the citizens and solicited their support towards government’s programmes and policies.

Earlier, the vice-chairman of the council who is also the supervisory councilor for education, Hon. Emmanuel Nwauwa said the objective of the administration is to positively touch all spheres of life in the area.

The chairman of the occasion and former Rector of Rivers State College of Arts and Science, Dr Godspower Nwogu lauded the council chairman for initiating the scheme and reminded the council of the need to embark on scholarship awards to successful candidates in the area to bridge the yawning gap in education due to harsh economic situation in the country.
