Governor Matin Elechi of Ebonyi State has warned management and staff of Ebonyi State Broadcasting service (EBBS) that the government will not tolerate any petition from any of its staff.

Speaking with the Commissioner of Information and State Orientation, Comrade Egwu Chima and management of EBBS in his office, the governor said he would sack anyone who violates the order.

Elechi’s directive was sequel to a petition allegedly written by some staff against the management, leading to the arrest of the General Manager, Mr. Nwafor Odom, and some management staff by the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The organisation has been engulfed in crisis for over a  year.

It was learnt that attempts were made on the lives of some workers.

EBBS was closed down for over a week following arrest of some workers, a situation media stakeholders in the sate described as pathetic.

They urged the government to intervene in the crisis.

Comrade Chima regretted the crisis, blaming it on greed, envy and power tussle. He said part of his mandate in his recent deployment to the ministry is to sanitise the embattled outfit.

Comrade Chima expressed displeasure at a situation where jingles and programmes of the station do not carry spiritual or political messages.

He said he would overhaul the system to ensure that government’s programmes and policies were disseminated to the people.

“It is regrettable that the programmes and the jingles of Ebonyi State Broadcasting Services (EBBS) have no messages, either spiritual or political, but all that would change because I am going to ensure a total overhauling of the place to ensure that government policies and programmes are accurately disseminated to the citizens,” he said.
