Ekweremadu Assures Adequate Distribution of Projects In Enugu
The people of Enugu West Senatorial Zone of Enugu State have been assured of equitable distribution of developmental projects in all the communities in the senatorial district.
Deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu, who represents the senatorial zone in the National Assembly gave the assurance in Enugu, shortly after inspecting his constituency projects and ongoing Federal Government Projects that he attracted to the zone.
His words: “Our target is to ensure that there is portable water, good roads and electricity in all the communities that I represent. We want to halt the movement of people from rural areas to the urban areas and the only way I think we can do it is to provide these amenities in the rural areas so that people will enjoy the dividends of democracy. Beyond the areas that I represent, I have also endeavored to attract federal projects in the South East Zone because we are also in the National Assembly for them.”
Continuing, chief Ekweremadu further said: “More than 90 per cent of the roads in the South East have been awarded and we are working hard to ensure that the projects are fully implemented and monitored.”
The Deputy Senate President explained that he embarked on the tour of the projects to enable him access the level of implementation of his constituency projects as well as ongoing federal projects that he attracted to the area.
Explaining why he embarked on construction of classroom blocks and libraries in most of the communities in the senatorial district, Chief Ekweremadu said the facilities would go a long way in providing a conducive environment for students, assuring that the libraries, including the Library Project at St Vincent The Paul Seminary, Agbogugu would soon be commissioned.
“ The essence of this visit is to enable us access the level of implementation of my constituency projects as well as ongoing federal government projects that I attracted to my district. I am assuring you that the water project at Amoli community would soon be commissioned for use. I will also make sure that the quality of the water is improved so that my people will drink portable and good water.”
Chief Ekeremadu further assured his people that he would work in harmony with the governor of the state, Sullivan Chime, attract more projects for communities in his district and showered encomiums on Governor Chime for his giant strides within a short period of time.
On the statement by the Minister of Aviation, Babatunde Omotoba that the Akanu Ibiam Airport was yet to be upgraded to international status, the Deputy Senate president expressed shock that a statement of such nature allegedly emanated from a Minister.
“Let me believe that he was misquoted. They are currently improving the facilities at the airport.”
