Buhari Berates ANPP Leadership
The former presidential candidate of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) for 2003 and 2007 general elections, General Muhammadu Buhari has berated the leadership of the party for not operating within the constitution of the party.
Buhari in an interview with The Tide on Sunday said the leadership of the party withdraw the case against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the Government of National Unity (GNU) of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua without recourse to the three structures of the party Constitution.
This, according to him, include the National Working Committee, (NWC) the party “caucus and National Executive council Committee (NEC), adding that whatever the leadership is doing is illegal.
He said, the party as it is now, I have said it so many times, it is operating within its own constitution. For example, we are, in court, they withdrew the case, they joined the Government of National Unity and they put themselves there as the leader of the party.
And they didn’t use the three structures of the constitution of the party, the National Working Committee (NWC) the cancuss and more important the National Executive Committee (NEC). So all those things they are doing are illegal.
On his plan to abandoned the party, Kastina born army general declared that it is a bonafide member of the party and he would make it public, if he had such plans to leave.
“Well, I said I am still in the party and the time I will abandon it, if I am abandoning it, I will let you know’.
Fielding questions on the absence of President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua in the last three weeks, Buhari said; the constitution is there and the constitution adequately covers the whole thing”.
