AISMA Declares Zain Best GSM Operator

Barely 48 hours after it won the 2009 Best Customer Care Operator in the telecom industry Zain Nigerian returned to the aware circuit recently to receive the Best GSM operator  in innovations and services delivery.

The innovation and service delivery award was bestowed on the leading mobile operator by organisers of the African Information Society Merit Award (AISMA), a body comprising renowned technology professionals and seasonal telecommunications journalists.

The award organisers cited Zain Nigeria’s commitment to delivery exceptional service and its constant rollout of ground-breaking telecoms products and service within the decades as major reasons for its selection as the Best Telecom operator in innovations and service delivery in Nigeria.

The body also noted that Zain had impacted positively on Nigeria’s burgeoning information communication  technology sector within the last ten years, stressing that the company had contributed immensely to sustain the information communication technological (ITC) sector in Nigeria.

The ceremony was organised  in collaboration with the Africa Independent Television (AIT) in Lagos. It attracted several high profile guests including Dr Alhassan Bako Zaku, the minister of Science and Technology, Engineer Ernest Ndukwe, executive vice chairman of Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Chief Dele Momodu, publisher of Ovation International among others.

About 18 individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contribution to Nigeria’s burgeoning ICT sector in the last 10-years were also recognised, as part of the celebration of 10 years of AIT Info Tech Network.

According to Mr Bayero Agabi, the coordinator of the award committee, the awardees fort he Africa Information Society Merit Award include public and private sector players that have through individuals and corporate efforts, improved Nigeria’s stake in the global ICT space.
