VC Wants ETF Fund For Private Varsities
The Vice-Chancellor of Ajayi Crowder University in Oyo, Prof, Olajire Olaniran has called on the Federal Government to allow the Education Tax Fund (ETF) undertake projects in private universities.
Briefing reporters on the institution’s first convocation coming-up next week, Prof. Olaniran said the call was imperative since ETF is drawn from companies operating in Nigeria.
He argued that the organizations contributing to ETF operate in Nigeria and the funds are set aside for the development of Nigeria education.
Besides, he pointed out that products of private Universities also work in those companies thereby contributing to the development of the country.
According to him, private universities would fare better if they are supported by organizations such as ETF.
On the convocation, the Vice-Chancellor explained that the first set of 239 gradands are expected to convocation next week.
Out of the number, nine made first class honours while 69 and 141 are on second class upper class and second class lower lists respectively.
