RSG Pledges Support For Economic Council
The Rivers State Government says it would continue to support the State Economic Advisory Council to achieve its set goals for the benefit of the people.
The State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who stated this at the 2nd anniversary dinner of the council in Port Harcourt said he was satisfied with the performance of the body.
According to Governor Amaechi, represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, the council has since its inception made the government proud through its advice which has helped it to stir the ship of the state successfully.
“We are pleased with your advices and we are feeling the impact of your efforts”, the Governor said and expressed joy at the modest achievements brought into the State through the council which is made up of elder statesmen of the state. “With your backing and advises, we have achieved good result”, he said.
The state chief executive noted that the present administration has saved the country from armed-struggle and hostilities in which it was enveloped in the recent past.
He reassured on government’s commitment towards improving the state’s economy and other sectors, pointing out that the necessary foundation for the development of the state have been laid in all areas.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman, Rivers State Economic Advisory Council, Professor Nimi Briggs gave kudos to the government for forming the council, which he said, was committed to its responsibilities.
Professor Briggs, who is also the Chairman, Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) commended the State Governor for his rugged approach towards issues of security and development in the state and reiterated government’s determination to give purposeful life to the people.
