RSG Clears Contractors’ Debt – Ofuru
In keeping with the promise of raising the standard of education in the State to an enviable height, the Rivers State Government has cleared all the outstanding debts owed contractors handling one hundred school building projects across the State.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Richard Ofuru who stated this while briefing newsmen in his office in Port Harcourt, recently said thirty of those schools are ready for commissioning and would be delivered before December this year.
Mr. Ofuru also said it was the desire of government to ensure that all the school premises operate in a neat environment by maintaining the clean and green policy, stressing that school heads should do everything possible to keep to the policy.
He disclosed that the biddings for the furnishing of the school5 by contractors would soon be made known in no distant future and called on parents and stakeholders in the education sector to be patient.
The Permanent Secretary, while emphasizing the importance of education in the society, commended Governor Amaechi and the Commissioner of Education, Barrister Alice Lawrence-Nemi for restoring education sector to its past glory and called for the support of all to achieve set goals in the system.
