Rivers Athletes To Commence Camping Next Month

Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Boma Iyaye said that athletes would enter into close camping next month, to ensure that the state comes first on the modal table during the 17th National Sports Festival to be hosted by the state.
Hon. Iyaye revealed this in an exclusive interview with Tide sports shortly after the maiden press briefing to officially flag off fund -raising campaign at the Local Organising Committee (LOC) secretariat recently, in Port Harcourt.
He emphasised that the state would not just host the sports fiesta, but would justify the tax payers money by coming first on the medal table.
“We are not going to host and become just a participating state, we will make sure that Rivers State wins the tournament”, he said.
According to the sports commissioner’ for hitch-free hosting, the state has put in place adequate security arrangement and appointed the commissioner of police as the chairman sub committee on security.
Hon Iyaye continued that before the commencement of the games, all the road constructions would be completed, saying that the rain is really slowing down the road works.
In the area of the delay of building infrastructures for the sports fiesta, he explained that the LOC is following due process for the purpose of accountability and transparency.
