The Enugu Regional Transmission Manager of Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), Engr Ifeanyi Chukwu Anyamah, has said that the amnesty programme of the federal government would boost power generation and transmission in the country.

Anyamah said apart from quelling the uprising in the Niger Delta, the amnesty package would also check incidence  of vandalisation of PHCN installations which culminated in constant power outrages.

Answering questions shortly after a courtesy call on Governor Martin Elechi of Ebonyi State, the PHCN top official gave assurance that they are prepared to provide uninterrupted power supply to Nigerians by December.

The regional transmission manager, who is in charge of Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Benue and some parts of Cross River State, Delta, Taraba and Kogi State maintained that if all these machines are put in order, and the gas moves from the Niger Delta areas, to the transmission stations power is assured to the nation.

On the already existing 132 KV grid substations in Ebonyi State, Anyamah said that the transmission substation is their source of supply to the state and beyond and lamented the reported incidence of armed robbers on the equipment.
