The Forum of Organised Opposition Political Parties (FOOPP) in Rivers State has condoled with the governor of Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi on the gruesome murder of one of his aides, Hon. Charles Nsiegbe.

In a terse statement signed by the Chairman of FOOPP and Rivers State Commissioner for Special Duties, Chief Davis Ibiamu Ikanya and made available to journalists yesterday, FOOPP, on behalf of the opposition parties under its aegis, commiserated with governor Amaechi, Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“We share in your pains and that of the immediate and extended families of late Hon. Charles Nsiegbe who was cut down in the prime of his life when his services to the state were most needed. We are in no less agony for the demise of a quintessential gentleman and politician,” the statement said.

Chief Ikanya wondered why the Nigeria Police and other security agencies in state cannot strengthen their intelligence gathering apparatuses to nip this kind of crimes in the bud before they happen.

“It boggles the mind that despite the overwhelming contribution the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi-led government is making to the Nigeria Police and other security agencies, such killings could be hatched and executed without detection,” Chief Ikanya lamented.

The statement called on all security stakeholders in the state to re-double their efforts in safe-guarding lives and property in the state, especially during the coming Yuletide and New Year seasons.
