N’Delta: VP Sues For Intellectual Militancy

Vice President Goodluck Jonathan has sued for intellectual militancy that would raise the manpower capable of competing and exploiting the natural resources of the Niger Delta region.
Dr Jonathan made the call over the weekend in Bayelsa State while declaring open the Governor’s forum in Yenagoa.
His words’ ‘let me use this opportunity to urge and advise and encourage our youths that the next level on militancy is the one that we must embrace the science subjects especially in engineering and see that in the future Nigeria should be able to mine their oil”.
Adding that Nigeria has the manpower to do that most especially the future generation to come would be able to do that.
In his remarks, Chairman of Governor’s forum and governor of Kwara State, Governor Bukola Saraki said the meeting was held in Bayelsa State to underscore the stability and unity of the country.
The forum, he further declared is in solidarity with the Bayelsa State Government and the entire people of the Niger Delta considering the benefit they area now reaping from the amnesty exercise.
Also, Governor Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa observed that oil should not be seen as a curse but as a blessing to the people, adding that, ‘oil is a national asset that just as the assets from oil belong to all of us, the liability must also belong to all of us”.
Dr Jonathan had before the kick-off of the governor’s meeting commissioned the newly built Dr Goodluck Jonathan bridge.
The bridge was initiated in 2006 when Dr Jonathan was the governor of the state. The 360 metres long bridge, Governor Sylva said was challenging to construct.
The Bayelsa State Governor said the newly commissioned bridge would allow marine transportation beneath and open up the state central senatorial district as a measure of strategic development.
