KBFN To Hold National Tourney
Kickboxing Federation of Nigerian (ICBFN) has concluded arrangement to host the 2nd National Kickboxing Open Championship.
The championship has been scheduled for December 10-14 at the indoor sports hall of the National Stadium Surulere Lagos.
According to a release signed by the General Secretary of the Federation Chimezic Asiegbu and made available to Tidesports, the championship would be preceded by a seminar on December 7-10 to update the referees and other officials on the rudiments and technicalities of officiating during the championship.
The secretary also noted that only the referees and officials that attended the seminar would be allowed to officiate during the 2nd open championship in Lagos.
Asiegbu called on state associations to ensure that their kickboxers and officials attend these programmes saying that the seminar would be used to grade the referees.
In a related development, a member of Rivers State Kickboxing Association board, Sensei Emmanuel Charles called on the government to help the state’s kickboxers and officials to attend the programme.
Sensei Charles noted that the event would help to sharpen the techniques of the state’s kickboxers in their determination to win gold medals at the 17th National Sports Festival to be hosted by Rivers State.
There is the need for officials and the kickboxers to attend the seminar and the championship to adequately prepare for the 2010 national sports festival in which we are determine to clear the medals table, he said.
This is the second national open championship under the new kickboxing dispensation in the country. Following the integration of all bodies into one.
