IGI Pampers Super Eagles
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Insurance Partners Industrial and General Insurance have sent a message of congratulations to the Super Eagles for qualifying for next year’s World Cup in South Africa and promised to reward the team.
The Eagles beat Kenya 3-2 away in Nairobi and qualified when Tunisia lost 0-1 to Mozambique in the other group game and IGI’s Executive Vice Chairman, Remi Olowude said the win over Kenya showed the resilience and doggedness of Nigerians in difficult situations.
“The qualification of Nigeria for the World Cup has, once again, shown the undying spirit of Nigerians, particularly the members, technical crew and officials of the Super Eagles who picked the sole ticket in their qualifying group when virtually all hopes were lost,” he noted.
Olowude promised to reward the team for the qualification, while assuring the Super Eagles of IGI’s continued support.
All Nigerians must ensure that the team perform creditably at the first World Cup to be hosted by an African country, and this is why all hands must be on deck. The Super Eagles preparation for the Mundial must start now,” he said.
IGI has been a staunch supporter of the Super Eagles over the years. Apart from being the official insurer of all the national football teams for the past decade, the company has also been at the forefront of mobilising support for the team’s qualification for the 2010 World Cup.
Prior to the Super Eagles home match against the Harambee Stars which Nigeria won by 3 – 0, IGI donated corporate bags to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for onward presentation to winners of raffle draws organised by the NFF to mobilise fans to the stadium during the home matches of the Super Eagles.
At the time, Olowude said that Nigeria’s participation at the 2010 World Cup was a task that must be achieved.
“We cannot afford to be absent at the World Cup. The Super Eagles must qualify and IGI will give all the necessary assistance and support to ensure that the nation does not fail in the quest to qualify for the Mundial,” he had stated.
