Gov Amaechi Appoints New Press Secretary For His Deputy
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has approved the appointment of a new Press Secretary for the State Deputy Governor.
He is Mr. Biobele Da-Wariboko, who takes over from the Acting Press Secretary, Mr. Grant Osuigbo, who has gone back to his primary assignment as the Senior Executive Assistant to the Deputy Governor.
Mr. Da-Wariboko possesses a Master’s Degree in Journalism and Media Studies from the prestigious School of Journalism, Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa.
A recipient of the national merit award for professional excellence in journalism, Mr. Da-Wariboko is also an alumnus of the International Visitors Programme of United States Department of State, Washington D.C
According to the release, Mr. Da-Wariboko is a professional journalist and public information manager, who has witnessed a steady rise in his chosen career and engaged in journalism, communications and public information management for over two decades and strongly convinced in the rule of law and good governance. In 1999 Mr. Da-Wariboko delved into public affairs and political communications.
Furthermore, Mr. Da-Wariboko has worked at the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation as Business and Economic Editor, and was an Assistant Editor and later Advert Manager at the now rested SUNRAY newspapers. Mr. Da-Wariboko, has also worked in Switzerland and Rwanda as managing consultant and administrator of The New Times, Kigali, Rwanda. His research and professional interests are in media policy and institutional strategy for the advancement of good governance, public accountability and empowerment ofthe people.
Mr. Da-Wariboko joined the West Africa Democracy Radio, Dakar, Senegal as director of programmes, the statement added, and before his current appointment was the Managing Consultant of a private media outfit based in Port Harcourt, Lyst Communications Ltd.
