FCE Omoku To Affiliate With UNN

Plans are underway by the authorities of the Federal College of Education (Technical) Omoku, Rivers State to affiliate with the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) for its degree programmes.

The hint was dropped by the Chairman of Governing Council of the College, Chief John Enyi during an award organized by the college alumni association.

Chief Enyi who expressed the hope that before the expiration of his tenure the college would be a degree awarding institution, also said plans had commenced to improve the school’s infrastructure.

To this end, he disclosed that the college would soon be relocated to its permanent site and gave kudos to the Provost, Dr N. S. Oguzor for face lifting the institution.

Chief Enyi also called on the government to provide more funding to support the infrastructural development ongoing in the school, assuring that every fund approved would be used judiciously.

In his remarks, the provost of the College, Dr Oguzor expressed appreciation for the alumni association in organizing the event, describing tit as a landmark achievement for the school.

He pledged the college’s support to the association, urging the body to be steadfast in its activities in making sure the school improves greatly.

Earlier in his speech, chairman of the school’s alumni association, Mr Allen Eze stated that, though, the body is new, it has embarked on some projects in the institution. These, he said, include providing internet facilities and launching of a website for the college.

He explained that the essence of the project was to rise the standards in order for the school to compete favourably with sister colleges.

Mr Allen appealed to the entire college community to provide support for the alumni association, stressing that the task of moving the institution forward was a general responsibility.
