The Director of Consultancy at the Rivers State University of Education (RSUOE), Dr. Jessica Ezekiel-Hart has stressed the need for Rivers State government to monitor activities of private schools in the state.

Dr. Ezekiel-Hart who made the call in exclusive interview with The Weekend Tide in her office at Rumuolumini on Monday, noted that it was imperative to maintain standard.

She condemned the call for abolition of private schools but said that government must insist on the training and re-training of school teachers so as to equip them for the task of imparting knowledge to the students.

The Director of Consultancy however listed some of the challenges of teachers which include moral decadence among students and examination fraud.

Dr. Ezekiel-Hart therefore urged parents and school authorities not to impose courses on the students to avoid loss of concentration in their studies pointing out that the development was responsible for much emphasis on certificate acquisition rather than merit.

She recalled that in her school days, certificate was sacrosanct and called on the students to be more serious with their studies in order to pass their examination and defend their certificates instead of paper mere qualification.

Dr. Eezekiel-Hart used the opportunity to commend the state governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the giant strides in education sector within two years of his administration.
