Don’t Sack Amodu, Director Tells NFF

Contrary  to the opinion of many Nigerians calling for the sack of the head coach of the Super Eagles, Shuaibu Amodu, the Director of Rivers State Stadium  Authority, James Nmehielle has reiterated the need to let Amodu take the Eagles to the nations cup and worls cup in 2010.

Nmehielle in a chat with Tidesports in Port Harcourt, said coach Amodu had worked hard in qualifying the senior team and so should not be dumped.

He noted that seven months are too small to bring in a new coach, saying that it will be difficult for the coach to blend the players within the few months.

According to the Director, the solution is not the sack of Amodu but “for Amodu to improve himself, select 22 players from Under-17 and Under-20 and expose them by playing constantly with the Super Eagles.

“There is also the need for Super Eagls to play more international friendly matches. The Glasshouse should also do something to improve Amodu, and send him on courses abroad.”

He, however, expressed worry that Amodu is not very composed, hence the need to pull all the good coaches, such as Sampson Siasia and John Obuh to make a perfect technical team for the world cup proper.
