Chime Inaugurates Committee On Private Sector Development

The Governor of Enugu State, Mr. Sullivan Chime has inaugurated a thirteen-member State Advisory Committee on Private Sector Development.
Performing the inauguration ceremony at the Government House, Enugu, Governor Chime described the private sector as the engine room that holds the key to the development of any economy.
According to him, “I am quite convinced that the private sector holds the ace in mobilising resources and management expertise that will guarantee the viability and stability of our economic growth.”
The governor explained that the advisory committee was inaugurated to serve as a bridge between the state government and the private sector with a view to assisting in reducing the bureaucratic bottlenecks and remove all the barriers which impair investment.
He noted that on assumption of office, the administration embarked on an aggressive infrastructural development designed to provide enabling environment for the private sector and make Enugu a location of choice for investors.
His words: “As government, we have consciously embarked on the development and rehabilitation of the strategic economic infrastructure that will enhance the attractiveness of our state to investors. We will continue to emphasise reform programmes which will lay a solid foundation for investors to prosper because a vibrant private sector is the fulcrum upon which the engine of development revolves”, the Governor further promised.
Governor Chime therefore thanked members of the committee for accepting to serve the state, pointing out that they were appointed based purely on their experience and past track records in their various professions.
He charged the committee members to focus attention on key areas that would help the state industrialise, attract genuine investors and create jobs for the unemployed in the state.
