Society Initiates Programme For Less Privileged

The society of St. Vincent De-Paul, Christ the King Catholic Parish, Port Harcourt says it plans to  a fish pond and a poultry farm in the state.

The president of the society Bro. Donatus Okpara who said this in an interview with newsmen during the celebration of the societys’ annual feast day in Port Harcourt.

Bro. Okpara said that the proposed fish pond and poultry will enable the society to provide employment opportunities for the poor.

He said that the society in a bid to carry out its activities has set up three outstanding committees.

The committees, according to him  are the UPTH, the BMSH and the Prison Welfare Committees.

“They see into the affairs of the poorest of the poor in these institutionS through their respective social welfare department” he said.

The president however said the president is having pending cases that are above one million naira and urged for supports from the people.

In his welcome address, the chairman of the occasion, Barrister Simon  Amadubuogha urged the members to be steadfast in their service to the society.

He also urged them to be united as that is the only way the society can succeed, adding that other societies in the parish should assist the society in its task.
