RSG Seeks Czech Technology For Alternative Energy Source

Rivers State Government has indicated interest to seek technology from Czech Republic on alternative sources of energy in non oil sector to boost its energy needs.

The State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi gave the indication Monday, when the Czech Republic Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Jaroslva Siro, led a high powered business delegation from his country, on a courtesy visit to Government House, Port Harcourt.

Governor Amaechi told the Czech delegation that the state was not only interested in acquiring technology on alternative sources of energy, but also to exploit them to its advantage.

The governor who noted that Rivers State has recorded appreciable level of peace and security said that government was waiting to showcase to the world that peace has returned to the state.

He pointed out that the fact that the delegation from Czech Republic came into the state without any security arrangement was an indication that security has improved tremendously, and requested investors from Czech Republic to come and invest in the state and the Niger Delta in general.

Governor Amaechi also requested Czech Republic to participate In the forthcoming CARNIRIV being organized by the state in December this year.

Earlier, the Ambassador of Czech Republic to Nigeria and leader of the delegation, Mr. Jaros/avo Siro said their visit to Nigeria was to demonstrate their support for the effort of the Nigerian government to bring peace and security the Niger Delta region.

Mr. Siro who welcomed the initial result of the Federal Government Amnesty for militants expressed the hope that government would sustain the tempo and promised that even though his country is not involved in oil activities in Nigeria, it would be ready to contribute to the development of the Niger Delta as they were also here to look into possible ways of doing.
