Organisers Urge Youths To Embrace One Mic Initiative

Youths of the Niger Delta region have been urged to embrace the one mic free style singing and Rap competition, an initiative of street records limited in collaboration with Karo Makpor productions and the centre for talent enhancement and development (CTED).

According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of street records limited Mr Karo Makpor, this initiative focuses on the empowerment of creative out of school youths in particular and youths above the ages of 16 years in general who hitherto had no opportunity to showcase their talents and God’s given gifts.

He stressed that the one mic show is absolutely free as no fees are paid at all. Benefits to participants include providing a platform for showcasing young talents, helps in creation of employment opportunities in the entertainment industry, provides a platform for discovery of young talents especially those of Niger Delta origin.

It also helps create new role models for the youths, provides alternative avenues for dissipation of energy by the youths, thus helping curb vices like crime and militancy, the ATV programme ‘one mic’ derived for the running of this project will help showcase these youths to a larger audience as well as introduce them to the arts as an empowerment tool.

The one mic team is made up of successful professional artiste managers who employ the use of Arts for reform technique and have to their credit the discovery of several musical stars in the Niger Delta including the likes of Timaya, Soty, Allonyx, story teller etc.
