Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi, has said his government was taking necessary measures to ensure that both federal and state roads in the state are completed on time as agreed with the contractors handling the roads.

He also called for federal government intervention in the dredging of the Sakamori drain saying the entire project was beyond the capacity of the state government.

Obi, who disclosed- these while inspecting affected parts of the bridged head to Upper Iweka end of the Onitsha-Enugu expressway, said the intervention by the Consolidated Construction Company (CCC) was to check further devastation of the road.

According to him, government was working to uplift the entire area, and restore the abandoned ship road designed for traffic going through Imo and Rivers State and other parts of Southern Nigeria, adding that the road will be properly demarcated with iron protectors to check indiscriminate switching of lanes by motorists and motor-cyclists.
