Legislators Urge Review Of Land Use Act
Some lawmakers in the South-South geo-political zone has renewed the region’s demand for a thorough review of the Land Use Act and the revenue derivation formula. The lawmakers namely, Senator Aloysious Etuk, (Akwa Ibom North senatorial district) and Hon. Bassey Etim (Uyo Federal constituency) said the two legislations were fundamental in redressing the marginalisation of the Niger Delta region. Etuk argued that a prompt review of the land use act and upward review of the 13 per cent derivation in respect of oil revenue would add value to the various on-going reforms and give the South-South zone a sense of belonging and equity in the country.
