Jehovah Witnesses Begins Annual Convention

Another retreat for Jehovah Witnesses begins this weekend at Igwuruta-Ali near Port Harcourt, Rivers State for interested members of the public from Rivers and Bayelsa states.

The main focus of the congregational annual retreat in which more than 300,000 devotees are expected will be on global changes in the near future which has long been anticipated.

A press statement issued by the local media coordinator of the convention, Brother Modicai Nwaerema, said at a discussion sessions that what many people referred to as the “end of the world” will be fully explained.

He said the convention which had been on district level with the theme “Keep on the Watch” will also talk about the “great tribulation” and the subject “why must we keep on the Watch”.

According to the statement, the Friday morning session will end with a keynote address on “How Jehovah helps us to keep on the Watch” while the afternoon portion of the day’s programme will dwell on the family. “it is the belief of Witnesses that families need to be prepared spiritually in order to face the future with confidence”.

It further gave insight on Saturday and Sunday programmes which will highlight the indifference and apathy regarding upcoming world events as foretold in the bible; and how to survive the end of the world.

All the programems would be handled by experts and prominent members of the congregation. The statement listed other activities as baptism of those who have accepted the world of God, study of bible texts in details, discussion classes and expository.
