Gov Partners NDE To Reduce Unemployment
The Enugu state government is working out modalities to partner with the state office of the National Directorate of Employment [NDE] as to check the alarming rate of youth unemployment in the state.
The state governor, Barrister Sullivan Chime who made this known in a keynote address on the occasion of the flag off ceremony of the NDE Special Job programme in Enugu stated that his administration would soon collate statistics of unemployed youths especially university graduates in the state.
“The statistics available to us from University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) show that in Nigeria, about 40 million people are unemployed considering this high figure, this flag -off by the NDE could not have come at a more auspicious time”
Governor Chime, who expressed worries over the unemployment situation among the youths in the country and in Enugu State, applauded NDE for its activities, stressing that the exercise would no doubt go a long way in reducing the problem in the state.
According to the governor who spoke through his Commissioner for Special Duties and Inter Ministerial Affairs, Chief Clement Okwor, declared that, “the believe is that the training would offer the needed panacea for youth unemployment and reverse extreme poverty and hunger”.
Addressing the participants drawn from various local government of the coal city state, Director-General DG of NDE, Mallam Abubakar Mohammed, hinted that no fewer than 14, 865 unemployed youths are expected to undergo the training nationwide including women.
