Eaglets Round Off Preparations With Win Over Berger

Stanley Okoro kept up his prolific form for the Golden Eaglets, scoring the lone winner as the team rounded off their preparations for this month’s Fifa Under-17 World Cup with a 1-0 over First Division Julius Berger on Monday in Lagos.

The tune-up game was the Eaglets’ last before they confront Germany in the tournament’s opening game this weekend in Abuja.

Okoro has scored most of the team’s goals in their pre-tournament build-up and did not disappoint in the Main Bowl of the National Stadium in Lagos, turning home in the first half.

Neither side’s play was helped by a disgraceful turf and Eaglets coach John Obuh came away relieved that his lads had come through safely “The pitch was not good at all,” he told newsmen “I am just happy that we had a good game with no injuries.

“Now we have to go to Abuja and focus on the competition.”

The team left for Abuja yesterday.
