KELGA Boss Tasks Omagwa On Peace

The chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Council of Rivers State, Kevian wobodo has charged the people of Omagwa community to sustain the existing peace and unity in the area to enhance the speedy economic and social transformation, via the Greater Port Harcourt project of the state government.

The chairman who gave the charge at the chieftaincy coronation of the paramount ruler of Omagwa, Chief Jacob Wagorchi Orji, Nyenwe-Ali Omagwa during the week, commended the people for their peaceful disposition, especially as it affects chosing and installation of new paramount ruler, noting that no meaningful development is sited in a violent environment.

He enjoined the new Eze to engage in meaningful activities that would ensure accelerated development of the area, stressing that Chief Orji should as well lobby for the recognition of the stool by government, since the Omagwa chieftaincy stool was recognised by the colonial government in 1901.

Earlier in an address read by Chief Alfred Wiche, said the event marks a milestone in the annals Omagwa history, as the community reflects back to 28th January 1901 when Sir Egerton Walter of the then British High Orji Commision, Owerri Province crowned Chief Wori as the first paramount ruler of Omagwa community.

He urged all to give him their co-operation and support to enable him succeed in his reign. In response, the installed Nyenwe Ali Omagwa, Eze Jacob Wagorchi Orji thanked the government of Chibuike Amaechi for providing the enabling environment for his coronation, assuring that his reign will foster peace, unity and even development of the community. He called on those who fled the community for any reason to come back and beg for forgiveness as well as join hand for better Omagwa.

The CDC chairman, Omagwa, Chief Sam Okolokpa described the event as successful with the people and sued for unflinching support and encouragement toward moving Omagwa forward.
