The technical crew of Sharks FC would go back to the drawing board to improve on the teams attacking and scoring strategies, according to the manager of the club, Kadiri Ikhana.

Ikhana stated this while fielding questions from sports journalists, shortly after his side played a goalless draw with Warri Wolves, of Delta State, in their first match, in the 2009/2010 Globacom premier league season at the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium, at the weekend in one of the week two matches played across the country.

According to him, his players played very well and we were impressed with their standard of play, but anxiety caused them to fail to convert any of the scoring chances that they created.

“I am satisfied with the level of play the boys exhibited, the game was a good one of course you saw the match my players created more scoring opportunities, but because of anxiety they could not convert any one. It is very unfortunate, we have to go back to the drawing board to have sharper attackers.” We said.

The team manager, explained that it was just the first match they have played and that subsequent games would be different. He added that people should not forget that Dolphins and Sharks started their pre-season preparation very late.

As regards players unpaid allowances and salaries,  Ikhana disagreed that it affected the players’ performances, “because they demonstrated determination to win the game but the goals failed to come.”
