Homicide detectives are now working to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of Mr Abraham Izulu, Permanent Secretary, Bayelsa State Ministry of Commerce. Izulu believed to be in his late 40s was found dead last Friday morning at his official residence along Federal Safety Road, Ovaru. Although family sources are still toying with the theory that the dead man took his own life, the absence of a suicide note punctures that lead. Wife of the deceased, Mrs Izulu told The Tide that the Permanent Secretary left his bedroom Thursday for another room in the guise of going to read, and never returned to his bedroom. However, she said the absence of her late husband from the usual family morning devotion raised some anxiety among family members who hoped in vain that he would, but never did, even as later the devotion went on as scheduled. Moments later, the widow decided to confront him at the study to seek explanation why he could not attend the day’s morning devotion but to her surprise found her husband’s lifeless body. She was said to have raised alarm which attracted other neighbours, but all attempt to resuscitate him failed. The corpse of the top government functionary from Ogbolomakiri, Nembe was later taken to Federal Medical CentreFMC for post mortem. Although, the state government is yet to issue any statement on the incident, police source told The Tide that detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Bureau (SCIB) have stepped in and that a number of people have been invited for questioning.
