Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has been commended for the rebuilding of Kalabari National College (KNC) Buguma, one of the foremost Kalabari Secondary Schools.
The Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area (ASALGA), Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree made the commendation recently, while speaking with newsmen on his arrival from Abuja.
Hon. Flag Amachree also thanked the Governor for other key projects embarked upon by his administration in the area namely, building of health centres, primary schools, construction of Tema Steel Bridge, gas turbine sub station among others and hinted that the state government’s presence is greatly felt in the area.
Reacting to questions on project embarked upon by his administration, Hon. Ojukaye assured that he will positively complete all on-going projects as scheduled, stating that he has finished work on the new poultry projects and chairman’s lodge, which will soon be completed and commissioned.
He further disclosed that some projects which are near completion for commissioning this year include legislative chambers, council secretariat, water projects among others.
Hon. Amachree used the medium to appeal that the lingering ASUU strike action in the nation be called off.
He expressed worry that the strike has extended beyond reasonable limit with its associated hardship on students.
He called on the federal government to seriously look into the matter with a view to resolving it, in the interest of the younger generation.
The ASALGA boss also urged ASUU to go easy in their demands to facilitate the resolution of the matter, adding that they should put the interest of the nation uppermost.
