No Nigerian Hanged In Libya –FG

The Federal Government has denied the reported hanging of Nigerians in Libya, last week.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Communication, Olusegun Adeniyi who said this while reacting to a newspaper report described the report which is in the internet as false.
Some Nigerian newspapers had reported that about 400 Nigerians have been condemned to death and that between 32 and 40 were hanged recently.
However, Mr Adeniyi while briefing the press said that 14 Nigerians are in prison for offences ranging from murder, 419, drug and that about 57 are serving life sentences for such offences, as armed robbery, 419 including even alcohol, while about 600 are awaiting trial.
He said that diplomatic efforts are on-going to get reprieve for some of them.
Mr Adeniyi, however acknowledged that relationship between the two countries are not very warm.
