Nigeria Under-17 coach, John Obuh was left fuming at the groans from Nigerians when his Golden Eaglets team were drawn in unarguably the tournament’s strongest group.

A collective gasp of dismay swept through the Conference Hall of the International Conference Centre, Abuja first when woman football legend, Mercy Akide-Udoh pulled Argentina, and again when Germany popped out of the bowl.

Obuh did not appreciate the reactions.

“My major worry was the reaction of people when the draw was made. I wasn’t happy at the way people reacted,” Obuh stated.

“They gave the impression that we were scared of those countries. I didn’t like that because what you wish for yourself is what you will give.

“It’s a tough fight. None of the countries there are push-overs, but I don’t see any reason why people should be worried.

“We have beaten Argentina before, we have beaten Germany before and this time will not be an exception,” he declared.

“As far as I am concerned as coach of the side, I am confident that with the players we have, and the support from Nigerians, I am looking at a successful outing.”
