Judo Association Prepares For Pre-International Tourney
The Chief Coach of Rivers State Judo Association, Geofery Godpower has said that plans are on top gear to attend this year’s junior Judo Championship scheduled to commence next week, at Abuja.
This was disclosed in an exclusive interview with Tidesports on Thursday, in Port Harcourt.
He said the competition is aimed at selecting the best athletes that will represent the country, in the forthcoming Junior Judo International tournament, next year.
Godpower, expressed confidence that if the association is sponsored to participate in the competition, most of the state athlete would be selected for the international tournament.
“I have been grooming this cadet team, for a very long time now and they have gotten the technical knowledge and tactics of the sports”, he said.
He used the opportunity to appeal to the state sports council and other well meaning individuals to assist them financially to enable the association attend the competition.
