Ivory Coast striker, Boubacar Sanogo has signed a three year deal with French club St Etienne.

He moves from the German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen for an undisclosed fee.

He has already passed a medical and could make his debut for the club in their game against Boulogne at the weekend.

The St Etienne website said Sanogo had made a reputation for himself in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

“Aged 26, Sanogo has all the qualities of the modern striker, quick and powerful,” the club said.

He played under the current St Etienne coach Alain Perrin in 2004 when both were at United Arab Emirates side Al Ain.

He spent a large part of last season on loan from Werder at Hoffenheim.

He has been signed as a replacement for Bafetimbi Gomis, who left last month to sign for rivals Lyon.

St Etienne have lost both of their opening matches of the new Ligue 1 campaign, against Nice then Toulouse.
