Group Makes Case For Live Coverage Of Delta Assembly
Chairman of political office holders forum in Delta State Olorogun Victor Okumagba has called on the Delta State House of Assembly to pass a resolution that could provide for airing live the proceedings of the House.
Our correspondent reports that Okumagba had recalled that during the era of Hon Emmanuel Okoro under the administration of Olorogun Felix Ibru there was live coverage of legislative proceedings for at least once a week.
He said this should also apply to the Senate and House of Representative; adding that, this practice will create a sense of belonging and the opportunity for the general public to know the various stages bills and motion as well as the performance of the various legislatures.
He said it could also serve as an educative avenue to non-parliamentarians who are desirous of going to the legislature.
In his words: “We therefore appeal as true democrats on the above subject for the good and betterment of the state”.
Olorogun Okumagba congratulated Hon Okonta for his emergency as the Speaker of the state House of Assembly as well as members of the House for their exceptional and progressive approach which they had exhibited towards their legislative duties.
