Ex-Justice Minister Condemns Islamic Militants’ Activities
The former Attorney-General and minister of Justice of the Federation Bola Ajibola has condemned in strong terms the dastardly act and sectarian violence per perpetrated by an Islamic sect in Sowo Northern States.
The former Attorney-General said the orgy of blood littering by the self styled Nigerian Talibans have left scars on the minds of relative of the victims, particularly in Bauchi, Borno, Yobe and Kano States.
According to the former minister “enough is enough for the blood bath in the country?
He said the citizens of this country are no more willing to tolerate such violence, and such that has generated tension in other states in the sub-region.
Justice Ajibola who is the chairman of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry, Investigating the November 28, 2008 Mayhem in Jos made his feelings known recently while addressing the audience at the commission in Jos.
He said “the Commission is not a court (regular) for trying suspected criminals. We have deliberately invited those mentioned to hear from them. All the places are burning. The aim of our being here is to seek peace and to stop killings; enough is enough.”
He urged witnesses to speak the truth so as to make peace, and those invited include the former military president, Ibrahim Babangida, Plateau State Commissioner for Lands, Alhaji Abubakar Dashe and the Daily Trust Newspaper among others.
It would be recalled that the Major-General Chris Alli (Rtd) led emergency government in Plateau State had put the human casualty figure of the over three year (2001-2004) ethno-sectarian violence at 52,000.
