Ekiti Re-run: PDP, AC Boast Of Victory
As the race to fill the vacant seat of Ekiti North Senatorial District in the Senate continues to gather momentum, both candidates in the contest, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr Ayu Arise and his Action Congress (AC) counterpart, Mr Olubunmi Adetunbi, have boasted of defeating each other during the conduct of the August 15 Senatorial rerun.
Our correspondent reports that the two candidates have assured people of the Senatorial district, across the five local governments, including Oye, Ikole, Ido-Osi, Moba and Ilemeje, where the election would hold, would be based on their track records.
While Arise hails from Oye Local Government, Adetunbi comes from Ifaki in the controversial Ido-Osi Local Government Area of the State.
However, while Arise who was speaking with newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday on the level of his preparedness for the election said his track record of achievements while in the Senate would encourage people to vote for him enmasse, Adetunbi said the election was not that of Adetunbi but that of AC, affirming that it would confirm the popularity of the party in the area.
The former Senator said as a very active member of the banker’s committee, he was able to influence the approval of the establishment of a branch of Central Bank in the state, saying the construction of the currency centre of the bank was in progress.
