Amaechi Orders Demolition Of Shop…Condoles Late Wanjoku’s Family
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi has ordered the demolition of a shop at number 130 Rumuola/Rumuokwuta Road in Port Harcourt.
Governor Amaechi, who gave the order Wednesday during an unscheduled inspection of the Rumuokwuta -Rumuola Road project, directed the contracting firm handling the dualisation of the road to demolish the structure within seven days.
He explained that the structure, which was built on the right of way was earlier marked for demolition, for the expansion of the road, but was avoided by the contractor during the clearing process.
In another development, Governor Amaechi paid a condolence visit to the family of late Chief James Wanjoku, where he described the late educationist, as an icon in the area of education.
Late Chief James Wanjoku was the father of an aide to the Governor, Mr. Azubuike Wanjoku. He served the state as a primary school head, principal of many schools, and became famous for his disciplinarian style of grooming students.
The state Chief Executive noted that students who passed through late Chief Wanjoku are among the best. in terms of discipline and enjoined members of his family to take solace in the fact that their father has concluded his assignment on earth, having trained all his children up to university level.
Responding on behalf of the family, Mr. Azubuike Wanjoku, thanked the state governor for identifying with them at this moment of pain.
He said late Chief James Wanjoku served the state for several years, and assisted in producing manpower, and described him as an inspiration to all that knew him.
Later Chief James Wanjoku, according to him, went back to school for more studies after retiring as school principal at the age of 60, read law, and graduated as a lawyer at 65 years, practiced for 15years, before his death.
