A second-year National Diploma (ND) Science Laboratory Technology student of Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) was electrocuted during last Saturday’s Lagos State environment sanitation exercise.
Twenty three-year old Ajibade Folarin, a part-time student of LASPOTECH met his death inside Present Help International Church, Balogun Street, Ikorodu, where help failed to come when he was electrocuted.
The deceased was said to be cleaning a faulty standing fan in the church when he met his untimely death. A member of the church present at the time of the incident, who identified himself as Akin said Folarin was cleaning the fan with a wet cloth when he was electrocuted.
“Ajibade was cleaning the fan with a wet cloth when he met his fate. Nobody knew that the faulty fan was still plugged to the sucket.
We just heard his scream and before we knew what was happening, he fell to the ground and laid lifeless. He was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead”, Akin told THE TIDE.
A friend of the deceased, Segun Sopelu described him as a respectful and humble man, who was friendly with everybody.
Another friend, Alli Lukman, described him as a devoted and caring Christian, adding that he would be missed by all.
“He was aspiring to be a technologist and was working towards his goal before this tragedy struck. May his soul rest in peace” Lukman prayed.
